Chinese teacher visitors
Chinese Teachers visited Maiden Erlegh School for a one week cultural visit to learn about teaching in English classrooms.
We played host to our first group of Chinese Teachers from 7th to 10th October. Eight English teachers, here to improve their English skills and observe our provision for young people, joined us for four days. In addition to watching our lessons, they offered a variety of cultural sessions (morning exercises and dance; the school day and life in China; Yunnan province and its produce (mostly tea); stories from the stone forest and its folklore) and taught mandarin to selection of year 7 and 8 languages classes. They produced some lovely lessons and both staff and students found them both interesting and engaging.
Our visitors thanked us for our hospitality and said ‘We really enjoyed ourselves and benefited a lot from the students and teachers here. Both students and teachers are amazing’.
