Introducing Maiden Erlegh Institute

We are pleased to introduce our new name, the Maiden Erlegh Institute (MEI). We will continue working in partnership with local schools and the University of Reading, however we have been given the privilege of collaborating with the newly designated Teaching School Hub Berkshire to co-deliver Initial Teacher Training (ITT) and Early Career Teacher (ECT) training and development programmes for Reading and Bracknell Forest Secondary School. We will lose the title ‘Teaching School’, however we will be part of a comprehensive strategy dedicated to raising teacher and school leader standards by focusing on quality and effective delivery models and by supporting colleagues throughout their careers.

We will continue to recruit and train Reading University Core PGCE and School Direct trainees, offer school-to-school support and professional development courses, but also deliver new services. The Trust’s priorities continue to develop outstanding education, wellbeing, happiness and personal development of every student in our community. The professional development, support and nurture of our talented teaching and support staff remains important to us. Maiden Erlegh Trust has successfully been awarded a Behaviour and Thames Valley Gateway Challenge Hub and we look forward to working collaboratively with a variety of different networks across Berkshire and beyond in the future.
